The United States is the most powerful military force in the world, and they should be because the US spends more on its military than the other 9 countries on this list combined.

24/7 Wall Street put together a list of the most powerful armies in the world, and unsurprisingly, the US finished in the first spot. The United States spent close to $700 billion on its armed forces in 2010, more than $500 billion more than China.

According to 24/7 Wall Street, the world spent $1.63 trillion on military spending last year.

Here are the 10 most expensive military forces in the world.

The United States – Spent $698 Billion in 2010.


China – Spent $119 Billion in 2010


UK – Spent $59.6 Billion


France – Spent $59.3 Billion


Russia – Spent $58.7 Billion


Japan – Spent $54.5 Billion


Saudi Arabia – Spent $45.2 Billion


Germany – Spent $45.2 Billion


India – Spent $41.3 Billion


Italy – Spent $37 Billion
